Stocking Your Bathroom

The bathroom is often the most overlooked room in a rental, but considering the fact that every guest will spend time here, you should take the time (and extra money) to make sure it's stocked with essentials. Some items are  bathroom must-haves, including toilet paper and hand soap. Other items are bathroom nice-to-haves, and we'll outline those here.

1. Wooden bath mat

A wooden bath mat may cost a bit more than it's fabric alternative, but it'll last much longer. It also makes for easier cleanup - just give it a wipe down, no washing machine required!

2. Plastic or washable shower curtain liners

Plastic curtain liners (or light, washable liners) should go between your fabric shower curtain and the actual shower- you can use one set of hooks to hang both. The plastic liners usually come pretty cheap (often found for $10 at  stores like Kohls), so stocking up on them is a great idea. When you see signs of wear and tear (i.e. yellowing or mold due to moisture), just toss the liner and replace it with a new one. For a more eco-friendly approach, just remove the lightweight liner, toss it in the washing machine, and replace it once dried. This will ensure that your bathtub is always looking super clean.

3. Hair dryer

Sure, you could require guests to bring their own, but it's such an inconvenience to pack a dryer. Do your guests and favor and spend the $20 on an inexpensive hair dryer to keep in your bathroom. Little things make the big differences!

4. Plunger and toilet brush

Stocking these items may mean less calls to a maintenance man, and less hassle for your cleaning crew.

5. Towel hooks

Avoid musty towels by giving your guests a place to hang their towels to dry. You'll also avoid having guests throw wet towels on your carpet or beds.

Remember that guests often remember the little touches in a rental, so don't be afraid to spend the extra money to go the extra mile.
